KDP President Masoud Barzani Calls for Responsibility and Unity Amid Regional Tensions

Baghdad, Iraq – Kurdistan Democratic Party President Masoud Barzani has called on Iraq’s leadership to take decisive action to shield the country from escalating regional conflicts and ongoing internal instability. Speaking at the opening of the 17th Erbil International Book Fair, Barzani emphasized the urgency of responsible governance during a time of heightened tension in the region.

He urged political leaders in Baghdad to do all they can to prevent Iraq from being drawn into external conflicts, highlighting the wars taking place nearby and expressing hope for a swift end to the suffering in areas such as Palestine and Lebanon.

Barzani also stressed that stability within Iraq depends on strong, transparent political decisions and a commitment to address lingering disputes. He called for leaders in both Erbil and Baghdad to have the courage to admit past mistakes and work toward a fresh start that would help steer the country away from deeper crises.
