Qatar’s Apex Health builds 400-bed hospital in Baghdad

Qatar’s Apex Health hospital project will soon transform Baghdad’s healthcare system. The company received approval to build a new 400-bed facility in the Al-Zaafaraniyah district, formerly known as Al-Rashid Camp. This significant development is set to modernize Iraq’s medical infrastructure.

The new hospital, named Baghdad International Hospital, will cover 100,000 square meters on the Tigris River. Qatar’s Apex Health hospital project will feature 16 intensive care beds, 12 fully equipped operating rooms, 80 outpatient clinics, and a complete emergency department. These facilities aim to meet rising healthcare demands across the capital.

Furthermore, the hospital is expected to handle more than 600,000 outpatient visits every year. It will also provide care for more than 100,000 inpatients annually. The services include complex surgeries, pediatric care, organ transplant programs, dialysis, and neonatal treatment. Such specialized medical options will reduce the need for Iraqis to travel abroad for treatment.

Additionally, this project builds on previous healthcare initiatives in Iraq. Apex Health has already participated in the management of teaching hospitals in Di Qar and Karbala. By strengthening medical infrastructure in Baghdad, the company continues to expand its long-term commitment to Iraq’s healthcare system.

Moreover, the hospital aligns with the broader investment strategy of Estithmar Holding, the parent company of Apex Health. Estithmar is currently investing in several Iraqi sectors. These include the development of two modern cities, luxury hotels, high-end resorts, and the Rixos Baghdad Hotel & Residences. Each project highlights the company’s role in supporting Iraq’s economic and social growth.

The Qatar’s Apex Health hospital project in Baghdad demonstrates how international investment can strengthen essential services. The hospital’s advanced facilities will elevate medical standards and give Iraqis access to quality healthcare at home. This step also signals growing regional cooperation between Iraq and Qatar, particularly in the health and infrastructure sectors.

As Iraq continues to recover and rebuild, projects like this bring hope for improved services and stronger communities. Ultimately, the new hospital reflects a turning point for healthcare in Baghdad, offering patients modern treatment options while contributing to the nation’s overall development.
