Al-Difaa Al-Jawi Claims Crucial Victory in West Asia Super League

Iraq’s Al-Difaa Al-Jawi basketball team secured a vital victory in the West Asia Super League (WASL) Final 8, defeating Jordan’s Ittihad Amman with a dominant 92-68 scoreline. The Round 2 match took place on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025, at the Ghazir Arena in Beirut, Lebanon.

Al-Difaa Al-Jawi set the tone early, building a 10-point lead by halftime (44-34). Despite a strong push from Ittihad Amman in the third quarter, which brought the gap down to five points (59-54), the Iraqi team responded strongly in the final period. With standout player Abbas Al-Karnawi leading the charge and earning MVP honors, Al-Difaa Al-Jawi hit several crucial shots, including key three-pointers, to secure the convincing win.

This victory greatly enhances Al-Difaa Al-Jawi’s prospects in the competition, keeping them in the running for a spot in the Finals. After a tough loss to Lebanon’s Al Riyadi in their opening game, the team is now focused on upcoming matchups against Sagesse (Lebanon) and Tabiat (Iran), knowing that securing another win is critical for their qualification hopes.
