French Team Supports Mosul Museum Restoration

The Mosul Cultural Museum welcomed the 17th French archaeological mission for an official visit. This mission focuses on supporting heritage restoration in Iraq through expert collaboration. The visit aimed to monitor the progress of ongoing restoration projects at the museum.

Additionally, The initiative follows directions from Ali Obaid Shalgam, head of the State Board of Antiquities and Heritage. Lama Yass Al-Douri, Director General of the Museums Department, also oversaw the visit. Museum curator Ahmed Amer greeted the delegation and guided them through various restoration areas.

During the tour, Amer explained the work of the Iraqi team restoring damaged archaeological items. He highlighted the achievements made in reviving cultural treasures destroyed in recent years. The team’s dedication to heritage restoration in Iraq impressed the visiting experts.

Amer also presented future plans to improve technical methods and enhance artifact preservation. These recommendations focus on improving efficiency, boosting precision, and adopting advanced restoration tools. The discussion emphasized knowledge exchange and long-term collaboration.

The French experts praised the professionalism of the Iraqi team and the quality of the ongoing work. They expressed admiration for the team’s commitment to preserving Iraq’s history. According to them, the restoration reflects a deep respect for cultural identity and national pride.

Moreover, both sides discussed strategies to overcome technical and logistical challenges. The French mission confirmed their continued support and promised to provide tools and training to assist the local team. By strengthening partnerships, both countries hope to speed up the museum’s recovery.
