Iraqi Airways Beirut Flights 2026: Direct Service Resumes Between Baghdad and Beirut

The return of Iraqi Airways’ Beirut flights in 2026 marks another step in restoring regional air travel. The sector has faced disruptions in recent months because of security concerns.

According to the Iraqi Transport Ministry, the airline completed all operational requirements before restarting the route. It also received the necessary approvals from the relevant authorities.

As a result, passengers can once again travel directly between Baghdad and the Lebanese capital.

Earlier this month, Iraqi Airways suspended flights to Beirut. The airline decided to do so because of growing tensions across the region.

The suspension began on June 1, 2026. However, the interruption lasted only a short period.

Before that, Iraqi Airways had resumed daily flights to Beirut on April 28. Those services returned after a temporary closure of Iraqi airspace.

The Iraqi Airways Beirut flights 2026 route forms part of a wider recovery plan for international travel. Therefore, authorities continue working to restore connections with key destinations.

Meanwhile, Iraqi Airways restarted flights to Dubai and Istanbul in mid-April. The airline took this step to increase operations and expand its flight network.

Additionally, the national carrier resumed domestic and international services on April 10. Officials said the airline met all technical and operational requirements before the restart.

Earlier this year, Iraq suspended air traffic for 40 days. The closure affected both domestic and international flights.

Authorities introduced the measure because of regional military developments. Consequently, airlines faced major operational challenges.

Later, the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority announced the reopening of Iraqi airspace. As a result, airlines gradually restored their schedules.

The Iraqi Airways Beirut flights 2026 resumption highlights ongoing efforts to strengthen regional connectivity. Furthermore, officials expect more routes to return as conditions improve.

The renewed service will support business travel, tourism, and passenger movement between Iraq and Lebanon.
