Iraq Declares It Will Not Become an Arena for Settling Scores

Baghdad — The head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, firmly stated on Sunday that Iraq will not be an arena for settling scores. This important declaration came during his meeting with Russia’s ambassador to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev, highlighting Iraq’s firm stance on avoiding conflict spillover.

At his office, Maliki welcomed Ambassador Kutrashev and exchanged views on bilateral relations between Iraq and Russia. They discussed the importance of expanding cooperation that benefits both nations, with Maliki emphasizing that Iraq will not be an arena for settling scores amid rising regional tensions.

Additionally, the discussion also covered recent regional events in Syria, Palestine, and Lebanon. Both officials addressed the impact of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war and the latest negotiations between Iran and the United States. Maliki reiterated. the country’s goal to protect its sovereignty and security.
