Starlink Partnership Fuels Digital Transformation in Iraq

Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani held talks with a delegation from Starlink to explore future collaboration. The discussion centered on advancing communication systems and supporting digital transformation in Iraq.

The Prime Minister highlighted Iraq’s rapid growth and urban development. He stated that the country now offers major opportunities for foreign investment, particularly in technology and services. These developments reflect Iraq’s growing ambition to modernize.

Al-Sudani reaffirmed Iraq’s partnership with the United States. He emphasized the importance of the Strategic Framework Agreement and other bilateral commitments. These agreements support cooperation across economic, scientific, and technological fields.

Starlink, operated by SpaceX, provides satellite-based internet through a network of low-orbit satellites. The company offers global high-speed internet, even in areas with limited ground infrastructure. Its services could improve connectivity across Iraq, including remote and underserved regions.

The Prime Minister directed officials to remove barriers that might delay SpaceX operations in Iraq. He called for accelerated procedures to help Starlink begin its work. These steps are part of a national push for digital transformation in Iraq.

Al-Sudani also encouraged other large technology firms, especially from the US, to enter the Iraqi market. He urged them to cooperate with local companies and support the growing private sector. His government believes such partnerships will bring long-term benefits.

Iraq plans to strengthen digital infrastructure by using innovative technologies. Al-Sudani sees digital transformation in Iraq as vital to improving public services and supporting future development.

Starlink’s involvement could signal the beginning of Iraq’s deeper integration into the global tech landscape. The government hopes this move will attract more international investment and create lasting progress.

Digital transformation in Iraq remains a key national goal. By working with Starlink and other global tech leaders, Iraq aims to build a stronger, smarter, and more connected future.
