Al-Sudani to Attend Pivotal Coordination Framework Meeting

An important leadership meeting within the Coordination Framework is expected to take place in the coming hours or by Thursday. The meeting will address current and future challenges, including the suspension of Tayyar Al-Hikma leader Ammar Al-Hakim’s participation in the Framework and the State Administration Coalition sessions.

Additionally, the meeting will focus on restructuring the Coordination Framework to ensure its ability to tackle upcoming challenges. Prime Minister Mohammad Shia’ Al-Sudani is expected to attend. This meeting will take place before the State Administration Coalition’s emergency session on Saturday.

The Saturday meeting will address political issues, including the US presence in Iraq and its withdrawal timeline, regional shifts, and Iraq’s role in resolving regional disputes. Prime Minister Al-Sudani had previously invited members of the State Administration Coalition for the meeting, which will focus on the country’s general situation and several national matters.

Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Mohammed Al-Mashhadani, echoed the call for an urgent meeting, emphasizing the importance of national unity to address political challenges and resolve recent disagreements.

In related news, the Coordination Framework has faced tensions with Tayyar Al-Hikma. Al-Hakim suspended his movement’s participation due to grievances over the exclusion of its representatives from key government positions. This included the dismissal of Dhi Qar’s governor, threats against the Najaf governor, and the removal of the head of the Media and Communications Commission.

Al-Hakim’s potential departure from the Coordination Framework remains a possibility, though it is a decision solely in his hands. This comes after recent decisions, including Prime Minister Al-Sudani’s approval of the dismissal of Ali Al-Muayad, head of the Media and Communications Commission, and the appointment of Mohammad Abdullah Abdul Amir in his place. Additionally, the Dhi Qar Provincial Council voted to appoint a new mayor, Nasif Jasim Mohammed, to replace Tayyar Al-Hikma’s Zaki Hassoun.
