Prime Minister Al-Sudani Announces Equal Benefits for Private Sector Workers

BAGHDAD — Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani announced a major shift in labor policy during a visit to a private factory in Baghdad. He confirmed that private sector workers insured under social security will now have access to the same government benefits as public employees. This includes eligibility for government loans and residential land allocations.

Al-Sudani made this announcement during a tour of Al Awsat Food Packaging Company. He met with workers to celebrate International Workers’ Day and thanked them for their contributions. His message focused on fairness, opportunity, and the government’s dedication to supporting Iraq’s workforce.

The Prime Minister stressed that insured private sector workers deserve the same treatment as those in the public sector. As a result, banks will now be required to offer loans to these workers. In addition, they will qualify for residential plots based on their years of service and insurance history. A new system for implementing these changes is currently under development.

Al-Sudani also pledged to enforce the Retirement and Social Security Law. He promised to continue working closely with labor unions, business owners, and private sector leaders to ensure fair conditions for all workers. He made clear that Iraq’s development depends on a strong, protected labor force.

Speaking to employees at the food packaging facility, the Prime Minister praised the role of private factories in Iraq’s economic growth. He noted that the plant uses modern technology and serves both local and export markets. He emphasized that innovation and a skilled workforce are essential to Iraq’s recovery and future progress.

In addition, al-Sudani ordered strict enforcement of the Local Product Protection Law. He directed border authorities to apply its regulations carefully. He also instructed relevant bodies to increase workplace inspections and guarantee safe, fair conditions for all employees.

Throughout his visit, the Prime Minister repeated the importance of supporting Iraq’s workforce. He highlighted the government’s growing focus on real solutions for labor challenges. These policies aim to create a fairer, more balanced economy that uplifts both private and public sector workers.

By introducing these reforms, the government is taking a clear step toward supporting Iraq’s workforce and building a stronger, more inclusive national economy.
