Baghdad, Iraq- Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani held a meeting today, Tuesday, with Ms. Rola Dashti, the UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). The meeting centered on strengthening the cooperation between Iraq and ESCWA, with the aim of advancing efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office, the discussions also focused on providing support for Iraq’s financial and economic reform programs, particularly in critical economic and social priority areas. Prime Minister Al-Sudani emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing pressing issues such as poverty and unemployment while improving service delivery and ensuring tangible developmental progress for the Iraqi people.
The statement further noted that Prime Minister Al-Sudani stressed the importance of fostering investments, enhancing government administration, and improving performance measurement systems across all sectors.
Additionally, the Prime Minister highlighted the growing significance of artificial intelligence and digital transformation in driving sustainable development. He underscored the necessity of collaborating with international organizations to effectively harness these technologies in Iraq’s ongoing economic reform efforts.
