PMF Attacks Reported as Al-Sudani Monitors Security Situation

PMF attacks reported as Iraq’s caretaker Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani closely monitors the aftermath of deadly strikes. The attacks targeted positions of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) and killed several Iraqi security personnel, a military spokesperson confirmed.

Military spokesman Sabah Al-Numan said the strikes occurred while security forces performed their duties in assigned areas. He warned that such attacks aim to destabilize the country and threaten Iraq’s hard-earned security gains.

Al-Numan stressed, “We will not allow Iraq to become a battleground for settling scores or a stage for violating national dignity.”

Over the past two weeks, PMF facilities have faced a series of air and drone strikes across multiple provinces. Attacks hit al-Anbar, Kirkuk, Babil, and Wasit, intensifying concerns over national security.

Jurf al-Sakhr in Babil province recorded the highest number of strikes during this escalation. The deadliest strike occurred on Wednesday in al-Anbar province, where air attacks hit three PMF sites belonging to the 19th Brigade, also known as Ansar Allah al-Awfiya.

The strike targeted the brigade’s medical unit, second regiment headquarters, and a logistical support facility. Casualty reports indicate more than 120 members of the PMF and associated security forces were killed or wounded.

Prime Minister al-Sudani immediately received updates from military commanders and instructed them to strengthen defensive positions along vulnerable border areas. He also called for increased coordination between federal forces and PMF units to prevent further losses.

Experts warn that repeated PMF attacks reported could destabilize Iraq’s security environment. Analysts note that such strikes, if continued, may embolden hostile actors and undermine regional stability.

The Iraqi government has urged neighboring countries to respect national sovereignty and avoid using Iraqi territory for external operations. Security officials also promised to investigate each strike and hold the responsible parties accountable.

In summary, PMF attacks reported highlight growing threats to Iraq’s internal stability. Al-Sudani’s leadership focuses on reinforcing defenses, improving coordination, and ensuring the country remains secure. Observers anticipate continued government vigilance and measures to protect both PMF forces and civilians.
