Drone crashes near Iraqi parliament Halbousi’s guest house in western Anbar

The Iraqi drone incident investigation entered a new stage after authorities reported that a small drone crashed near a guest house owned by Iraqi Parliament Speaker Haibat al-Halbousi in western Iraq. Fortunately, the incident caused no major damage and left no casualties.

According to the Security Media Cell, the drone fell near the property in Karma District in Al Anbar province on Saturday. As a result, nearby dry brush caught fire. However, firefighters and security personnel quickly contained the flames.

Moreover, officials stated that the aircraft was extremely small. Technical assessments showed that it carried no explosive materials. Investigators also determined that the drone’s operational range did not exceed 750 meters.

In addition, authorities explained that this type of aircraft burns rapidly when temperatures rise. Therefore, experts continue to analyze the remaining debris to determine its origin.

Meanwhile, the Security Media Cell, which operates under the prime minister’s office, confirmed that investigators have not identified those responsible. Security, intelligence, and forensic teams immediately launched investigative measures.

Furthermore, officials continue to collect evidence and review technical information. Authorities hope these efforts will clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As of 2000 GMT, no organization had claimed responsibility. Consequently, questions remain regarding the source of the drone and the motive behind the event.

The Iraqi drone incident investigation comes at a time when Baghdad seeks to strengthen state control over weapons and security affairs. Earlier this month, a government committee began implementing plans to restrict weapons to state institutions.

The committee started its work on June 3. Its responsibilities include creating mechanisms to integrate armed formations. It also oversees the transfer of weapons, equipment, and camps to official security bodies.

At the same time, political groups and many citizens continue to support stronger state authority. They have repeatedly called for limiting weapons to official institutions.

Additionally, Iraq continues to face intermittent security challenges. Sporadic attacks and clashes have affected domestic stability in recent years. Therefore, officials remain focused on reinforcing security mechanisms and preventing future incidents.

Although the drone caused little damage, the event has attracted attention across the country. Consequently, authorities continue their efforts to uncover the circumstances behind the crash.

The Iraqi drone incident investigation remains ongoing as security agencies work to establish responsibility and maintain stability throughout the country.
