Key statements From Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mahmoud Mashhadani at the Erbil Forum 2025

Baghdad, Iraq- The speaker of the Iraqi parliament said that this session of parliament is one of the worst sessions and there are many issues that have not been resolved.

Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mahmoud Mashhadani said at the Erbil 2025 conference that Iraq has chosen the path of neutrality and “we need time to rebuild our country.

“We built a country for 80 years and it was torn down in the blink of an eye [in 2003], then we started from scratch,” Mashhadani said of the new Iraq.

“When I come to Erbil, I see it is developed. I am happy because it is part of my country,” Mashhadani said.

He meant that everyone [political parties] in Iraq should take ownership and try to rebuild the country

“The opinion of the Sadr Movement has not been taken on many issues in Iraq, it should be taken,” he said.
