Iraq, Qatar Strengthen Parliamentary Ties

In a move to strengthen Iraq-Qatar relations, Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani departed Baghdad for Doha following an official invitation. He was accompanied by Ziyad Al-Janabi, head of the Integrity Committee.

The visit reflects growing diplomatic momentum between Iraq and Qatar. According to a statement from the Speaker’s Media Office, the invitation came from his Qatari counterpart, Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim. This visit marks an important opportunity for direct dialogue between senior officials.

During the trip, Al-Mashhadani will meet a range of Qatari leaders to discuss bilateral relations. Both countries aim to boost cooperation on multiple fronts, including legislation, governance, and oversight. The presence of Al-Janabi underscores the focus on integrity and anti-corruption collaboration.

Such visits form a vital part of Iraq’s broader strategy to strengthen Iraq-Qatar relations. Parliamentary diplomacy allows for the exchange of ideas and practices, especially in areas related to transparency and institutional reform. It also builds trust between the nations.

The Iraqi Parliament continues to expand its role in foreign affairs, especially in forging ties with other Arab countries. This approach promotes regional unity while opening doors to technical and developmental partnerships.

Officials expect this visit to result in agreements that serve both parliaments. By focusing on mutual interests, the talks will likely support future joint initiatives. Al-Mashhadani’s agenda includes discussions on regional cooperation and Iraq’s political and economic trajectory.

Qatar remains an important partner for Iraq in terms of investment and diplomacy. Through dialogue and coordination, both countries hope to chart a more stable and cooperative future.

This official visit stands as a fresh effort to strengthen Iraq-Qatar relations, creating more channels for collaboration and mutual growth. With high-level talks underway, both nations look to turn shared goals into lasting partnerships.
