Baghdad, Iraq- the Chargé d’Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Tripoli, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, affirmed Iraq’s success in eliminating sources of terrorism and confronting extremist ideologies. Speaking on Wednesday, Al-Sahaf highlighted Iraq’s readiness to offer its expertise in national reconciliation, strengthening democracy, and combating terrorism.
Al-Sahaf made the remarks during a meeting with Abdullah Al-Lafi, a member of the Libyan Presidential Council, to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation between Iraq and Libya. He emphasized Iraq’s significant experience in fostering national reconciliation and expressed Iraq’s eagerness to share its knowledge to help support political stability and societal cohesion in Libya.
He also underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in combating terrorism and extremism, pointing out that Iraq faced and overcame major challenges in this area. He stressed that Iraq had successfully dried up the sources of terrorism and confronted extremist ideologies, and was now ready to transfer this valuable experience to Libya.
In response, Abdullah Al-Lafi commended Iraq’s regional and international role, expressing appreciation for Iraq’s foreign policy, which emphasizes openness and cooperation with various parties. Al-Lafi reiterated Libya’s gratitude for Iraq’s support and called for enhancing joint cooperation, particularly in the political and security domains.
The meeting is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Arab relations and coordinate strategies to address security and political challenges, ultimately contributing to achieving greater security and stability in the region.
