Iraq Backs Iran–US Talks as Regional Tensions Shift

Iraq signaled strong support for ongoing diplomacy, stressing that regional stability at stake remains the top priority. Officials emphasized dialogue as the safest path forward. They also highlighted the urgent need to reduce tensions through sustained negotiations.

Fuad Hussein spoke by phone with Abbas Araqchi to discuss the latest diplomatic developments. The call focused on negotiations between Iran and the United States. Both ministers reviewed progress and assessed next steps.

Araqchi shared details about recent talks held in Oman. He described the atmosphere as serious and constructive. He also outlined the main issues discussed during the meetings. According to him, negotiators made cautious progress. However, several complex disagreements still require careful handling.

Both sides then discussed the next negotiation round planned in Geneva. They agreed that continued dialogue remains essential. They also stressed the importance of building confidence through practical outcomes. Iraqi officials believe negotiations could help prevent wider regional escalation.

Hussein reaffirmed Iraq’s full support for the diplomatic process. He emphasized that peaceful solutions serve everyone’s interests. He also noted that diplomacy strengthens regional security frameworks. Furthermore, he warned that stalled talks could increase uncertainty across the Middle East.

During the call, Hussein also updated Araqchi on security developments. He explained measures taken to transfer ISIS detainees into Iraqi custody. Iraqi authorities now supervise these detainees under national law. Officials aim to ensure accountability while maintaining legal standards.

Both ministers also agreed to maintain close communication. They highlighted the need for transparency throughout the negotiation process. They also expressed hope for tangible progress in upcoming meetings. Their discussions repeatedly stressed that regional stability at stake demands patience and cooperation.

Iraqi leaders continue to position the country as a bridge for dialogue. They believe balanced diplomacy reduces risks and encourages trust. Analysts say Iraq seeks to avoid regional polarization. They also note that Baghdad favors negotiation over confrontation.

As talks move forward, uncertainty still surrounds key issues. Nevertheless, officials remain cautiously optimistic about future breakthroughs. Many observers believe sustained engagement could produce gradual progress. Ultimately, leaders on all sides acknowledge that regional stability at stake requires consistent diplomatic commitment.
