Iraqi Forces Arrest 11 Terrorists and Destroy ISIS Hideouts

Iraqi forces arrest terrorists in sweeping security operations across multiple provinces. The Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) confirmed the arrest of 11 suspects linked to ISIS. These joint operations, conducted with the National Intelligence Service and Kurdish security agencies, also eliminated hideouts and tunnels.

Moreover, the CTS stressed that the missions aimed to dismantle ISIS remnants and strengthen national security. Forces targeted several areas, including Nineveh, Kirkuk, Salah al-Din, and Sulaymaniyah. The effort highlights Iraq’s determination to prevent extremist groups from regaining influence.

In Nineveh, troops carried out two major strikes. Supported by army aviation, they destroyed seven ISIS hideouts. Additionally, security forces discovered three tunnels and an explosives-filled cave. The same operation also neutralized three other terrorist hideouts.

Meanwhile, Iraqi forces arrested five individuals in Nineveh during separate raids. Another four suspects were captured in Kirkuk, while security teams in Salah al-Din detained one more suspect. With local cooperation, Sulaymaniyah security units also apprehended a terrorist. These actions reflect improved coordination between federal and regional security services.

Furthermore, Salah al-Din witnessed one of the most extensive operations. Forces destroyed 13 ISIS hideouts, uncovered three tunnels, and collected dangerous ammunition. The discovery included explosive devices designed to destabilize civilian areas. Removing these weapons further strengthens Iraq’s internal stability.

The campaign follows Iraq’s long struggle against ISIS. The extremist group controlled large parts of Iraq and Syria in 2014. Millions of civilians were displaced from governorates such as Nineveh, Salah al-Din, Kirkuk, Diyala, and Anbar. Although Iraq declared victory in 2017, sleeper cells remain active in remote areas.

Consequently, Iraqi forces arrest terrorists regularly to secure liberated territories. These continuous missions send a clear message that Iraq will not allow ISIS to regroup. The success of recent operations proves that security agencies remain alert and committed.

In conclusion, Iraqi forces arrest terrorists to defend national stability and protect communities. With strong cooperation across provinces, Iraq continues to eliminate threats, ensuring that the horrors of 2014 never return.
