Iraq Moves ISIS Prisoners as Security Forces Intensify Operations

Iraq moved 2,250 jailed ISIS militants into the country by air and land. The Iraqi Security Media Cell confirmed the transfers on Saturday. Officials said the operation continues with coalition support. They also said the effort aims to strengthen national security. Therefore, Iraqi forces remain on high alert and stay prepared for any threats. The government plans to expand monitoring in border areas and high-risk districts to prevent escapes.

Spokesperson Saad Maan told Rudaw that the transfer process remains active. He said the Joint Operations Command leads the effort. He also confirmed that Iraqi security forces coordinate with coalition partners. Maan added that border monitoring stays tight and continuous. He emphasized that authorities detected no escapes so far. Thus, the government claims that security remains stable, and it has strengthened checkpoints along main routes. The officials also stressed that they planned for every scenario.

Maan highlighted the role of Peshmerga forces in maintaining security. He stressed that these forces operate as part of Iraq’s defense system. He also said federal and regional units share intelligence and patrol together. As a result, commanders report improved coordination across disputed areas. They also plan joint operations to prevent any breakout attempts. The cooperation remains key to preventing chaos and reducing ISIS influence. The ongoing isis detainee transfer adds pressure to security forces, but officials remain confident about controlling risks.

Local officials in western Iraq warned about renewed ISIS activity. They said militants exploit security gaps in Syria after prison clashes. In January, the national security advisor warned about detainee escapes there. In Anbar, leaders said militants hide in remote desert zones. They said the militants move near borders and blend with civilians. Officials said they will increase patrols in vulnerable districts. Meanwhile, the isis detainee transfer process continues under close supervision, with new security measures.

In Nineveh, commanders said militants operate in the Hazar area. They reported airstrikes that killed several ISIS members. On Saturday, two militants detonated explosives during an operation. The blast injured federal personnel, officials confirmed. Finally, Iraq plans more security sweeps while monitoring all border routes. The country aims to prevent any further ISIS resurgence, and it will keep tracking threats closely. Officials said the isis detainee transfer will continue alongside expanded operations, and they promised transparency in the coming weeks.
