Iraq Condemns Israeli Sovereignty Move Over Occupied West Bank, Calls for International Response

Iraq condemns Israeli sovereignty move over the occupied West Bank after the Israeli Knesset advanced new draft laws. The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly criticized the decision, calling it a dangerous escalation and a clear breach of international law.

In a detailed statement on Thursday, the ministry said Israel’s new legislation directly infringes on the rights of the Palestinian people. It added that such actions threaten peace and stability in the Middle East. Iraq emphasized that these laws represent an attempt to legitimize occupation and undermine international agreements.

The Israeli Knesset recently approved two draft laws in preliminary readings. The first law seeks to apply Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank. The second aims to extend control over the Maale Adumim settlement, located east of Jerusalem. Lawmakers passed the first bill by a narrow 25 to 24 vote, while the second passed by 32 to 9.

Regional observers quickly condemned the move. They warned that it could fuel further conflict and weaken hopes for a two-state solution. Many international analysts view these laws as part of Israel’s long-term strategy to expand settlements and cement control over occupied territories.

Iraq’s Foreign Ministry stressed that expansionist actions like these deepen regional instability. Officials stated that such behavior entrenches occupation and undermines peace-building efforts. Furthermore, they noted that it contradicts United Nations Security Council resolutions and global legal standards.

In its statement, Iraq reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. The ministry expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people and their right to establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. Iraq also urged all nations to uphold international law and resist policies that encourage aggression or occupation.

Moreover, the ministry called on the global community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities. It urged countries to take firm action against the aggressive and expansionist policies pursued by Israel. According to Iraq, silence from the international community would only embolden more violations.

Iraq condemns Israeli sovereignty move once again, insisting that the world cannot ignore the gravity of this decision. Iraqi diplomats warned that such measures will not only damage peace efforts but also endanger regional security. They reiterated that justice and stability can only come through respect for international law and the rights of the Palestinian people.

In closing, Iraq condemns Israeli sovereignty move as a direct challenge to global peace. The ministry promised continued diplomatic pressure until Israel reverses its expansionist steps and recommits to lawful negotiations.
