Boosting Economic Cooperation with Australia

In a recent diplomatic meeting, Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani emphasized the importance of boosting economic cooperation with Australia. His remarks followed discussions with senior Australian diplomat Mark Innes-Brown, Assistant Secretary for the Middle East and North Africa. The two officials reviewed several pressing political, economic, and regional matters.

Al-Mashhadani described Australia as a true ally of Iraq during difficult times. He stressed that it was time for Australia to stand with Iraq during periods of calm and development. According to him, stronger partnerships in investment and trade are necessary to help both nations thrive.

He specifically encouraged reputable Australian firms to invest in key Iraqi sectors. These include oil, natural gas, and clean energy. The speaker noted that these industries could benefit from Australian expertise and resources. Such cooperation would pave the way for lasting economic growth in Iraq.

The meeting also covered Iraq’s democratic process. Both sides discussed the election system, voter participation, and planned reforms. They exchanged ideas on how to strengthen the democratic framework and ensure transparency in upcoming legislation.

Al-Mashhadani highlighted the legislative agenda of the Iraqi Parliament. He outlined plans to pass essential laws and hold regular sessions. The two parties explored potential frameworks for parliamentary cooperation and legislative exchanges between Iraq and Australia.

Innes-Brown praised Iraq’s recent achievements. He mentioned the country’s political stability, economic improvements, and infrastructure development. He reiterated Australia’s commitment to stronger bilateral ties and expressed interest in reviving friendship committees between the two nations.

Both leaders agreed on the need for ongoing dialogue and actionable steps to support boosting economic cooperation. They recognized this cooperation as a bridge toward shared prosperity and mutual respect.

As the conversation drew to a close, both sides reaffirmed their determination to build on this momentum. They underscored their shared vision of boosting economic cooperation, seeing it as a strategic priority for future collaboration.
