Al-Sudani’s Intelligence Visits Baghdad after Deadly HQ Attack

Al-Sudani’s intelligence visit to Baghdad followed a deadly attack on Iraq’s National Intelligence Service headquarters. Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani arrived in the capital on Sunday to assess the situation directly. He visited the headquarters shortly after the reported assault and met senior security officials on site. Moreover, authorities briefed him on the latest intelligence updates and operational conditions inside the agency.

Officials confirmed that one service member died during the attack on the intelligence headquarters. Additionally, they described the incident as a serious breach targeting a key state institution. Security forces immediately launched a wide investigation to determine how the attack happened. Furthermore, multiple agencies began coordinating efforts to trace the perpetrators and collect evidence.

Al-Sudani’s intelligence visit to Baghdad continued with closed-door meetings at the facility. He reviewed intelligence reports, field assessments, and security updates presented by senior officers. In addition, he examined initial findings connected to the attack and the surrounding circumstances. Consequently, he urged faster investigation procedures and stronger inter-agency coordination.

The Prime Minister also delivered remarks to intelligence and military leadership during the visit. He strongly condemned the attackers and described them as a threat to Iraq’s stability. Moreover, he rejected any justification for targeting government institutions or shedding Iraqi blood. He stressed that state authority must remain exclusive and fully protected.

Al-Sudani’s intelligence visit to Baghdad also addressed broader national security responsibilities. He warned against groups attempting to claim authority over war and peace decisions. Instead, he reaffirmed that only the Iraqi state holds that power. Furthermore, he called on political forces to take a clear position against attacks on state institutions.

Additionally, he emphasized the government’s commitment to a firm but responsible response. However, he also warned that Iraq would not remain silent in the face of repeated violations. Security officials confirmed ongoing cooperation between intelligence and military agencies. They also pledged to strengthen protection for sensitive government facilities.

Al-Sudani’s intelligence visit to Baghdad concluded with instructions for a full and transparent investigation. He ordered authorities to identify those responsible and announce the results publicly. Moreover, he stressed accountability as a key step in restoring public trust. Security monitoring continues across Baghdad as the investigation progresses.
