Nineveh Election Pledge Unites Political Blocs Ahead of Iraq’s November Vote

The Nineveh election pledge has emerged as a defining moment in Iraq’s 2025 parliamentary campaign. Two major political alliances—The National Resolve Alliance and Nineveh For Its People—will soon sign a binding “Pledge Document” with Nineveh residents.

This pledge contains 20 specific principles. Both coalitions have agreed to honor them if they secure a majority in the elections scheduled for November 11.

During a press conference on Sunday, Thabet Al-Abbasi, leader of the Resolve Alliance, introduced the initiative. He stated that the pledge aims to build a real partnership between voters and candidates. According to him, this approach could redefine how politics functions in Iraq.

Al-Abbasi emphasized that his coalition plans to implement all 20 points. He added that the pledge serves as both a moral and political obligation. It aims to keep candidates accountable while ensuring long-term progress and stability for Nineveh.

The signing period will open in the coming days. Residents of Nineveh will have the opportunity to add their names in support of the pledge. This will help strengthen the connection between local communities and their elected representatives.

Observers say this effort is unlike anything seen in Iraq’s modern electoral history. The Nineveh election pledge sets a new standard for transparency and civic involvement. It also puts pressure on other parties to clarify their platforms and commitments.

Nineveh is one of Iraq’s most diverse regions. It is home to over 3.7 million people from many ethnic and religious groups. These include Arabs, Kurds, Turkmen, Christians, and Yazidis. Nearly 2 million residents are expected to vote in this year’s parliamentary elections.

Preparations across Nineveh are now in full swing. Local election bodies are finalizing logistics while political groups ramp up their campaigns. However, the pledge has shifted public focus from campaign promises to concrete commitments.

If successful, the Nineveh election pledge could become a national model. It offers a pathway for rebuilding trust between the government and citizens. More importantly, it provides voters with a tool to measure real change.

As election day nears, voters in Nineveh will watch closely. Their decision could shape not only the future of the province but also influence Iraq’s broader political landscape.
