Petromaint Iraq Oilfield Contract Boosts Regional Expansion

The Petromaint Iraq oilfield contract marks an important step for regional energy cooperation. Egypt-based Alexandria Petroleum Maintenance Company, known as Petromaint, secured a $121 million deal for Zubair oilfield maintenance. The agreement highlights the company’s technical expertise. It also shows Petromaint’s ambition to strengthen its position in Middle Eastern energy markets.

According to Ahmed Hassan, assistant general manager for business development at Petromaint, maintenance operations have already begun. The work falls under a three-year deal designed to ensure the reliability and productivity of one of Iraq’s largest energy assets. By moving quickly, the company demonstrates its commitment to efficient service delivery.

Furthermore, the Petromaint Iraq oilfield contract serves as a springboard for wider international partnerships. Hassan explained that Petromaint seeks to broaden cooperation with global operators, particularly Italy’s Eni, which has a strong presence in Iraq. Such collaborations allow Petromaint to expand its operational footprint and strengthen its reputation in oilfield services.

Regional growth remains central to Petromaint’s long-term strategy. The company leverages skilled staff, advanced technology, and global connections to establish itself as a trusted energy service provider across the Middle East and North Africa. Through strategic investments and partnerships, Petromaint aims to position itself among the region’s leading oilfield maintenance companies.

The Zubair oilfield itself underscores the importance of this deal. Discovered in 1949, the field lies 20 kilometers southwest of Basra and holds proven reserves of between 4 and 4.5 billion barrels of oil. Current production hovers around 450,000 barrels per day, yet expansion plans target ambitious output levels. Industry objectives envision capacity reaching between 850,000 barrels per day and more than one million barrels per day in the future.

In this context, the Petromaint Iraq oilfield contract contributes to Iraq’s broader production goals. By ensuring reliable maintenance, the agreement supports stable output and prepares the Zubair field for upcoming expansion. Consequently, the deal not only benefits Iraq’s energy sector but also strengthens Petromaint’s role as a regional growth leader.
