National Security Dismantles Major Drug Network in Baghdad

Baghdad, Iraq – the National Security Service announced the dismantling of a dangerous drug trafficking network in Baghdad. This operation, part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trade, led to the seizure of a major stash of illegal substances.

According to the National Security Service, the operation followed a detailed, three-month intelligence investigation. After obtaining necessary legal permissions, the service’s forces were able to dismantle one of the most notorious drug trafficking networks operating in Baghdad. This effort resulted in the arrest of several key members of the network.

The National Security Service stated that nine suspects were arrested during the operation. These individuals were identified as the core members of the criminal network. As the investigation progressed, it revealed vital information about the network’s operations and locations.

Authorities uncovered the main storage facility for drugs located in the eastern part of Baghdad. Inside, they discovered large quantities of illegal substances. Among the seized items were 3.5 kilograms of marijuana and 220 plastic containers filled with cocaine. Additionally, the team found a handgun and later uncovered 458 pieces of LSD hidden in one of the suspects’ homes.

The National Security Service emphasized its dedication to tackling drug trafficking in Iraq. The operation marks a significant step in disrupting the network’s activities and protecting the community from the dangers of illicit drugs. Following the arrests and seizures, the suspects and evidence were transferred to the judicial authorities for further legal action.

This successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts by the National Security Service to combat the spread of drugs. Through coordinated intelligence and determined fieldwork, the service continues to prioritize the safety and security of citizens. By dismantling drug networks like this one, the government aims to reduce the impact of illegal substances on society.
