Hadi Al-Amiri Warns of Syria’s Potential Division Amid Growing Unrest

Baghdad, Iraq- On Tuesday, Hadi Al-Amiri, the head of the Badr Organization, warned about the potential division of Syria due to the recent unrest in the country. During a conference marking “Resistance Martyr Day,” Al-Amiri stated that the situation in Syria should not spill over into Iraq. He emphasized, “What has happened in Syria recently cannot happen in Iraq today,” adding, “Iraq is concerned for the Syrian people, but we do not fear them.” Al-Amiri suggested that the current situation in Syria, including Israeli interventions and instability in northern and southern regions, could signal a possible division of the country.

Al-Amiri also reiterated the importance of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in safeguarding Iraq’s unity. He highlighted the PMF’s significant role in liberating cities from ISIS control and described it as a critical force for Iraq’s security and dignity. “The PMF is a guarantee for Iraq’s unity, dignity, and security, working alongside other security forces,” Al-Amiri asserted.

The Badr Organization, led by Al-Amiri, is one of Iraq’s most influential Shiite armed groups and operates under the umbrella of the PMF, which was formally integrated into Iraq’s security forces in 2016.
