Iranian Drone Attacks in Kurdistan Target PM’s Office and Intelligence Chief’s Home

Iranian drone attacks in Kurdistan targeted the office of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and the home of an intelligence chief. The strikes occurred overnight, according to Kurdistan Region authorities.

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani confirmed the attacks in a statement on Monday. He said authorities launched an investigation following the strikes.

According to Barzani, drones targeted his private office and the residence of the Parastin Agency director. He described the incident as a serious escalation.

Barzani also warned that the attacks threaten the Kurdistan Region’s security and stability. He stressed that the strikes represent a direct challenge to regional security.

Meanwhile, the Kurdistan Region Counter-Terrorism Directorate provided further details about the incident. The directorate said two explosive-laden drones carried out the attack.

According to the directorate, the drones belonged to the Hadid-110 type. They crossed from Iranian territory before heading toward their targets.

The drones struck facilities connected to senior Kurdish officials. However, authorities reported no casualties from the overnight attack.

The latest incident comes amid heightened regional tensions involving Iran, Israel, and the United States. The Kurdistan Region has faced repeated security threats during the conflict.

Furthermore, the region hosts US forces, international companies, and Iranian Kurdish opposition groups. These factors have repeatedly placed Kurdistan at the center of regional tensions.

Iran has accused Kurdish opposition groups based in Iraq of supporting Western and Israeli interests. Tehran has also targeted their positions during periods of escalating regional conflict.

The attacks have continued despite efforts to establish temporary ceasefires. Several Kurdish opposition groups have since moved personnel away from their bases.

However, attacks targeting Kurdistan have continued to raise concerns among regional authorities. Officials have repeatedly warned about the risks of expanding regional conflicts.

Earlier in July, drone and rocket attacks struck areas near Sulaimaniyah. Those attacks reportedly killed nine people and injured others.

The latest incident adds another serious security challenge for the Kurdistan Region. It also raises concerns about further attacks against senior officials.

For Kurdistan’s leadership, the strikes highlight the growing risks from cross-border attacks. Iranian drone attacks in Kurdistan could further increase tensions across northern Iraq.

Regional authorities are now investigating the incident and assessing its security implications. Meanwhile, officials have not announced any casualties among senior Kurdish leaders.

The attack also comes as tensions remain high across the region. Therefore, Kurdish authorities are likely to closely monitor potential threats in the coming days.
