Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has given his initial approval to participate in the upcoming Arab-Russian Summit, emphasizing its significance for strengthening mutual interests. The announcement came on Wednesday following a meeting with Mikhail Bogdanov, the Special Envoy of the Russian President to the Middle East and North Africa.
During the meeting, which focused on bolstering bilateral relations between Iraq and the Russian Federation, the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation across various sectors. The Prime Minister also underscored the importance of fostering collaboration on key projects, particularly in infrastructure development and transit routes, in order to benefit both nations and further their shared objectives.
Al-Sudani reiterated Iraq’s commitment to expanding its relationship with Russia, particularly in the development of key projects, including those related to the development road initiative. He also highlighted the importance of continued dialogue in enhancing Iraq’s position on the global stage.
Bogdanov conveyed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s greetings to Al-Sudani and reiterated Russia’s eagerness to activate and implement bilateral agreements through the forthcoming tenth meeting of the Iraqi-Russian Joint Committee, which will focus on advancing the partnerships between the two nations.
