Mosul Airport Fully Reopens for Licensed Airlines

Mosul Airport reopening marks a major success for Iraq’s aviation sector. The Iraqi Ministry of Transport confirmed that the airport is now fully ready to receive licensed airlines. This announcement follows a smooth test landing by an Iraqi Airways Boeing 737, which used the newly rebuilt runway. The successful test showed that the airport can now support full commercial operations.

Maitham Al-Safi, the Ministry of Transport’s spokesperson, emphasized the importance of this milestone. He described it as a national achievement made possible under direct Iraqi supervision. Al-Safi also confirmed that Iraqi Airways will be the first airline to offer regular flights in and out of Mosul. Additionally, the ministry is prepared to cooperate with other global airlines under international and national aviation laws.

The Mosul Airport reopening brings renewed hope to the people of Nineveh province. As Iraq’s second most populated region, Nineveh has long needed stronger air links. This development now connects Mosul more easily with the rest of Iraq and with global destinations. Local officials view the airport as a powerful symbol of progress and recovery.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has shown strong support for the project. During his recent visit to Mosul, he ordered that the airport be opened to signal defiance against past terrorism. This location, once reduced to ruins by ISIS, now stands rebuilt and ready for air travel once again.

The Mosul Airport reopening places the facility alongside Baghdad and Basra airports as one of Iraq’s top three air travel hubs. This revival plays a vital role in boosting regional development and strengthening transportation infrastructure across the country.

As Iraq continues to rebuild, the Mosul Airport reopening offers a sign of resilience. The fully operational airport signals a new era for both the city and the wider nation.
