Iraq-Turkey Trade Hits $20 Billion as Diplomacy Strengthens Amid Security Cooperation

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan confirmed on Sunday that trade between Iraq and Turkey has reached $20 billion. Speaking at a press conference in Baghdad, Fidan emphasized the strategic nature of the bilateral relationship and the positive impact that Iraq’s security and stability has on Turkey. He also highlighted Turkey’s commitment to supporting development projects in Iraq, particularly the “Development Road” project.

Fidan stressed the importance of continued cooperation between the two countries on security issues, especially in the fight against ISIS and the PKK terrorist organizations. He noted the significance of maintaining communication with the new Syrian administration and expressed condolences for the deaths of three Iraqi security personnel by the PKK.

The visit, which is part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen ties, was warmly welcomed by Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein. The discussions reflected the growing partnership between the two nations.
