Iraq gold recovery efforts secured 375 kilograms of gold in a major corruption case involving a former senior Oil Ministry official. The Supreme Judicial Council announced the development on Monday, July 13, 2026.
The investigation involves detained former Deputy Oil Minister for Refining Affairs Adnan Al-Jumaili. Judicial authorities continue examining the case and tracing assets allegedly obtained through criminal activity.
According to the judiciary, investigators recovered 358 kilograms of gold through close coordination with authorities in the Kurdistan Region. The recovery took place under the supervision of Supreme Judicial Council President Judge Faiq Zaidan.
Diaa Jaafar, investigative judge at the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court, provided details about the operation. He confirmed that coordination with the Kurdistan Region played a central role in recovering the gold.
Meanwhile, investigators seized another 17 kilograms of gold during a separate investigation. Therefore, authorities secured a total of 375 kilograms on Monday.
