Iraq Gold Prices Rise: Baghdad Hits 853,000, Erbil 867,000

Iraq gold prices moved higher across Baghdad and Erbil during the latest market survey. Rates in both cities approached or exceeded 850,000 dinars per mithqal. Moreover, Baghdad dealers reported an increase from the previous trading session. Erbil prices also remained higher across several purity levels.

On Baghdad’s Al-Nahr Street, traders offered imported 21-carat gold at 853,000 dinars per mithqal. They purchased the same gold for 849,000 dinars. Gulf, Turkish, and European varieties shared these reported prices. One mithqal in these quotations equals five grams.

Dealers previously charged 848,000 dinars for the same imported gold. Therefore, the latest selling quote gained 5,000 dinars per mithqal. This increase equals approximately 0.6 percent. Although modest, the rise pushed prices further above recent levels.

Baghdad dealers offered Iraqi 21-carat gold at 823,000 dinars per mithqal. Meanwhile, they purchased the local gold for 819,000 dinars. These prices placed Iraqi gold below imported varieties. Consequently, buyers faced a 30,000-dinar difference between the two selling prices.

Jewelry stores reported slightly higher retail prices across Baghdad. Shops offered 21-carat Gulf gold between 855,000 and 865,000 dinars per mithqal. Meanwhile, Iraqi gold ranged between 825,000 and 835,000 dinars. Retail charges often include craftsmanship and other commercial costs.

Erbil dealers quoted higher rates across several gold purity levels. They priced 22-carat gold at 908,000 dinars per mithqal. Furthermore, they offered 21-carat gold at 867,000 dinars. Dealers also priced 18-carat gold at 744,000 dinars.

Erbil’s 21-carat quote exceeded Baghdad’s street selling price by 14,000 dinars. However, Baghdad jewelry stores offered some imported gold near Erbil’s reported level. Local demand and market conditions can create price differences between cities. Therefore, buyers often compare several dealers before purchasing.

The buying and selling spread reached 4,000 dinars for imported gold on Al-Nahr Street. Iraqi gold recorded the same 4,000-dinar spread. This difference represents the gap between dealer buying and selling prices. Smaller spreads can reduce immediate transaction costs for customers.

Gold purity remains a major factor behind the different prices. Twenty-two-carat gold contains more pure gold than 21-carat products. Therefore, it usually carries a higher market price. Meanwhile, 18-carat gold contains less pure gold and costs significantly less.

Buyers should also consider craftsmanship charges before comparing jewelry prices. Complex designs can increase the final cost beyond the basic gold value. Moreover, stores may apply different fees for imported and locally produced items. Customers should request a clear price breakdown before completing purchases.

Local gold rates often respond to global bullion prices and currency movements. Import expenses, transportation costs, and consumer demand can also influence Iraqi markets. However, the reported figures do not identify one specific reason for the increase. Traders will continue monitoring international and domestic market conditions.

Gold remains a popular savings choice for many Iraqi households. Some buyers use jewelry for personal occasions and family celebrations. Others purchase gold to protect part of their savings. Consequently, price movements can affect both consumers and small investors.

However, short-term price increases do not guarantee continued gains. Global markets can move quickly after economic or political developments. Currency changes can also raise or lower local gold prices. Therefore, investors should carefully monitor risks before making large purchases.

The difference between local and imported gold also remains important. Imported varieties carried higher prices across Baghdad’s main trading market. Meanwhile, Iraqi gold offered a less expensive option for buyers. This price gap may influence purchasing decisions during periods of rising costs.

Jewelry businesses could benefit from stronger demand during active market periods. Nevertheless, higher prices may discourage some customers from making large purchases. Retailers must therefore balance inventory costs with changing consumer demand. Market stability can help both sellers and buyers plan transactions.

The latest Iraq gold prices show continued strength across the country’s two major markets. Baghdad recorded gains for imported 21-carat varieties. Meanwhile, Erbil maintained higher prices for comparable gold. Traders and consumers will watch whether the upward movement continues.
