Iraq and Switzerland Discuss Stronger Anti-Terror Cooperation

Iraq’s National Security Advisor, Qasim al-Araji, met with Swiss Federal Security Advisor Gabriel Lo Chienger to explore stronger anti-terror cooperation. Their discussion focused on advancing bilateral relations and enhancing joint efforts to fight terrorism on a global scale.

The meeting took place during an international security gathering held in Moscow. Both sides agreed that terrorism remains a serious global threat requiring joint action and shared intelligence. They stressed the importance of collective work and mutual trust in addressing these challenges.

Al-Araji emphasized Iraq’s commitment to strengthening international security partnerships. He explained that Iraq seeks more collaboration with nations like Switzerland. He also highlighted Iraq’s determination to share its experience in counter-terrorism.

Switzerland’s representative expressed full support for Iraq’s ongoing efforts. He welcomed the idea of expanding cooperation beyond security. Economic development, political engagement, and humanitarian work also surfaced during the discussion. This comprehensive approach shows both countries’ desire for lasting peace.

The two advisors also discussed the upcoming international conference in Geneva. This event will focus on the Syrian Al-Hol camp, known for housing displaced individuals and suspected militants. Iraq and Switzerland plan to coordinate closely ahead of the gathering. They believe a joint strategy could help resolve complex regional security issues.

Al-Araji extended an official invitation for the Swiss official to visit Iraq. The Swiss side responded positively and welcomed the opportunity. The visit aims to further develop ties between both governments and institutions.

This move reflects a broader Iraqi strategy to engage reliable global partners. Iraq continues to promote stronger anti-terror cooperation with countries committed to regional stability. These partnerships help improve Iraq’s security and support international peace.

Through stronger anti-terror cooperation, Iraq hopes to exchange knowledge and develop long-term strategic alliances. These efforts contribute to a safer and more united global community.
