Nuclear Strikes Risk Chaos, Iraq Tells UN Security Council

Baghdad – Nuclear strikes risk chaos, Iraq’s envoy to the United Nations warned during a recent address to the UN Security Council. Abbas Kadhim Obaid, Iraq’s Permanent Representative, delivered a strong message regarding rising regional tensions and recent military actions.

He opened by saying that current events are testing the foundation of international law and the UN Charter. He warned that the recent attack on Iran could trigger a dangerous series of regional wars. These conflicts would impact millions across the Middle East, he added.

Obaid stressed that nuclear strikes risk chaos not only for the targeted nation but also for surrounding countries, including Iraq. He explained that radioactive leaks from damaged facilities would cross borders quickly. This threat affects the health and safety of entire populations.

Moreover, Obaid sharply criticized unilateral military actions. He said bypassing the Security Council directly undermines the credibility of the entire UN system. According to him, the international community must act with unity and urgency.

He also highlighted violations of Iraq’s airspace. He noted repeated incidents where foreign forces used Iraqi skies in regional attacks. Iraq fully rejects these actions, Obaid stated. He reaffirmed that Iraq will not allow its territory to be used in any armed conflict.

In addition, he called on the Security Council to fulfill its responsibility. He said it must step up efforts to maintain peace and prevent reckless escalations. Iraq believes that diplomacy and accountability must replace chaos and destruction.

However, Obaid’s remarks reflect growing frustration across the region. Many nations fear that unchecked aggression could spiral into a broader war.

Nuclear strikes risk chaos, and Iraq’s voice at the UN is a call for global responsibility. With rising tensions and fragile alliances, this warning carries serious weight.

Lastly, The speech ended with a demand for collective action. Iraq urged nations to protect peace, defend sovereignty, and avoid catastrophic outcomes
