Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to Libya, and Taher Al-Baour, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for the Libyan Government of National Unity, emphasized the importance of consolidating efforts to foster stability and improve security in the region.
A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, received by the Iraqi News Agency, highlighted that “Al-Sahhaf met with Al-Baour in the capital, Tripoli.”
The statement further noted that “the discussion focused on strengthening bilateral relations between the two friendly nations, exploring areas of shared interest, and promoting cooperation across various sectors. The two officials also emphasized the need to maintain ongoing diplomatic consultations and coordination on regional and international matters, as well as to enhance the exchange of expertise between relevant institutions in both countries.”
Additionally, the statement mentioned, “The two sides addressed ways to support the Iraqi community in Libya and streamline consular procedures to ensure more efficient delivery of services.” It also noted that “efforts to activate joint committees between the two nations and sign memoranda of understanding in various fields were discussed, aiming to strengthen bilateral cooperation and achieve mutual interests.”
The statement concluded with a reaffirmation of “the importance of continued coordination on regional and international issues, underscoring the need to unite efforts to promote stability and security in the region, serving the shared interests of both nations.”
