Nouri al-Maliki Discusses Reconstruction of Southern Lebanon with Lebanese Ambassador

Baghdad, Iraq – Nouri al-Maliki, the head of the State of Law Coalition, met with the Lebanese Ambassador to Iraq, Ali al-Habhab, to discuss the reconstruction of southern Lebanon, which was heavily damaged during the recent aggression.

According to a statement from al-Maliki’s office, the two exchanged Ramadan greetings at the start of the meeting. The discussions also centered on the strong and enduring relationship between Iraq and Lebanon. Al-Maliki emphasized Iraq’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, increasing cooperation, and enhancing joint efforts for the benefit of both nations.

The meeting also focused on the latest developments in both Palestinian and Lebanese affairs. Al-Maliki reiterated Iraq’s steadfast support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and efforts to maintain security and stability. A key part of the discussion was the rebuilding of homes and institutions in southern Lebanon that were destroyed by the recent Israeli attacks.

Al-Maliki reaffirmed Iraq’s position rejecting Israeli violations and the need for de-escalation to control the rising tensions in the region.

For his part, Ambassador Ali al-Habhab expressed Lebanon’s eagerness to strengthen ties with Iraq and expand areas of cooperation that benefit both countries. He also thanked Iraq for its ongoing support for Lebanon and its people during these challenging times.
