Iraq and Egypt Strengthen Cooperation Across Multiple Sectors

On Sunday, Minister of Trade Athir Dawood Al-Ghurairi reaffirmed the Iraqi government’s commitment to enhancing political, economic, commercial, and investment cooperation with Egypt.

Al-Ghurairi chaired a preparatory meeting with members of the Iraqi delegation for the upcoming third session of the Iraqi-Egyptian Joint High Committee, scheduled to take place in Baghdad in January next year. The meeting focused on reviewing the outcomes from the previous session, including the final minutes of discussions and the procedures for addressing key issues. The team also discussed various memoranda of understanding that were signed between the two countries.

The draft working paper, presented by the Iraqi side, was discussed in detail. It outlines areas for collaboration, and after refining it, the paper will be shared with the Egyptian side to guide future discussions aimed at improving bilateral relations in various fields. The goal is to finalize agreements that serve the mutual interests of both countries.

Minister Al-Ghurairi emphasized the government’s determination to increase cooperation with Egypt in all areas, including political, economic, and commercial fields. He stressed the importance of putting previous agreements into action through a joint work program that reflects the aspirations of both the Iraqi and Egyptian peoples.

The draft working paper covers a wide range of sectors, including consular, diplomatic, political, commercial, economic, industrial, energy, transportation, education, culture, agriculture, health, security, and the private sector. The Ministry of Trade’s Economic Relations Department is working closely with various ministries, agencies, and the private sector to finalize the document and ensure it aligns with Iraq’s national interests.
