Baghdad – Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein held talks on Wednesday with his French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot, focusing on regional stability, defense collaboration, and ongoing diplomatic efforts.
Speaking at a joint press conference, Hussein highlighted the enduring relationship between Iraq and France, noting France’s significant role in supporting Iraq during its fight against terrorism.
The discussion covered Syria’s stability, with both parties agreeing on the need for a political solution that includes all communities. They also addressed the ongoing U.S.-Iran negotiations, with Iraq expressing strong support for continued diplomacy to avoid further conflict in the region.
Defense cooperation was also on the agenda, including possible arms purchases and joint efforts to combat terrorism in Syria. Additionally, the ministers reviewed preparations for the upcoming Baghdad Conference, with continued coordination on its scheduling and structure.
