Al-Sudani Emphasizes Unity and Support in Meeting with Syrian Religious Leader

Baghdad – Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met on Tuesday with Sayyid Abd Allah Nidham, head of the Shia community in Syria, to discuss recent developments in the country and the broader regional situation.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed Iraq’s continued support for the Syrian people in all their diversity, reaffirming Iraq’s commitment to Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national unity.

The conversation also highlighted the vital role of religious leaders in promoting civil peace, unity, and coexistence. Al-Sudani emphasized the need to unify messages that counter extremism and encourage citizenship, which in turn fosters social justice and strengthens national solidarity. This approach, he noted, contributes meaningfully to peace and stability throughout the region.
