Iraq Boosts Agricultural Investment with 97 New Projects

Iraq is taking bold steps to strengthen its agricultural sector as the National Investment Commission (NIC) announced 97 new investment opportunities. The plan places farming at the center of Iraq’s development strategy, with a focus on food security and sustainable growth. Importantly, the NIC is offering investors strong support and simplified procedures to encourage new projects.

The commission emphasized the importance of Iraq agricultural investment opportunities in ensuring food self-sufficiency. According to spokesperson Hanan Jasim, existing agricultural projects already show positive results. For instance, vegetable production in plastic greenhouses, along with poultry and dairy projects, have reduced imports and boosted local supply.

Moreover, the NIC strategy highlights modern farming methods. By adopting advanced irrigation and production technologies, Iraq aims to increase resource efficiency and raise crop yields. The commission also supports innovations such as vertical farming and land reclamation. These initiatives transform creative ideas into successful agricultural ventures that can benefit both Iraq and international investors.

Jasim confirmed that the 97 investment opportunities cover diverse fields. They include crop production, livestock farming, irrigation systems, agricultural machinery, food processing, and packaging facilities. One notable proposal is the “soil conditioner” project, which uses recycled cellulosic waste to improve soil quality. This project could reduce water consumption by up to 300 percent, while also helping fight desertification and expanding green spaces.

To encourage participation, the NIC is actively simplifying licensing procedures. By removing administrative barriers, it hopes to attract both local and international investors to launch projects in Iraq. A dedicated committee now studies ways to improve agricultural investment, ensuring that Iraq follows global best practices in the farming sector.

Ultimately, Iraq agricultural investment opportunities demonstrate the government’s commitment to sustainable development. By focusing on innovation, efficiency, and food security, Iraq seeks to build a resilient agricultural economy. Furthermore, these projects offer investors unique chances to contribute to national growth while accessing a vital and promising market.

With 97 projects open for participation, Iraq agricultural investment opportunities highlight a new era of cooperation between the state, entrepreneurs, and global partners. The future of Iraq’s food security now depends on turning these plans into successful and lasting agricultural achievements.
