Iraq Continues Anti-Terrorism Operations Across Several Provinces

Iraq continues anti-terrorism operations targeting ISIS remnants in several regions. On Tuesday, the Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) confirmed multiple arrests and raids. These operations included coordinated efforts with the Iraqi National Intelligence Service and Kurdish security forces.

Security forces arrested eleven individuals on terrorism-related charges during coordinated operations in Nineveh, Kirkuk, Salah al-Din, and Sulaymaniyah.

They captured five suspects in separate raids across Nineveh. In Kirkuk, they detained four others in different locations. In Salah al-Din, forces tracked down and arrested another suspect. Local units in Sulaymaniyah helped capture the final individual.

In addition to the arrests, Iraqi forces destroyed numerous ISIS hideouts. Army aviation supported operations in Nineveh that eliminated seven hideouts. Forces also found and destroyed three tunnels and one explosives-filled cave.

Salah al-Din saw further progress. There, security units uncovered and demolished 13 hideouts and three tunnels. They also collected various explosives and ammunition during the operation.

These missions are part of broader national efforts to eliminate remaining ISIS cells. Although the group lost territory years ago, sleeper cells continue to pose a threat.

In 2014, ISIS seized vast areas across Iraq and Syria. This sudden occupation forced over five million Iraqis to flee their homes. The most affected regions included Nineveh, Salah al-Din, Kirkuk, Diyala, and Anbar.

Iraq declared complete territorial liberation in late 2017. Despite that, security forces have remained active. They regularly launch new operations to prevent the group’s resurgence.

Authorities emphasize that intelligence cooperation is critical in tracking ISIS remnants. Continued joint work between Baghdad and Kurdish security agencies has strengthened recent results.

Iraq continues anti-terrorism operations to stabilize regions formerly under ISIS control. The latest arrests and demolitions mark another step in this long-term mission.

Officials urge citizens to remain alert and report suspicious activities. They believe public cooperation is essential in maintaining security.

Ultimately, Iraq continues anti-terrorism operations to protect national stability and prevent future threats from emerging in vulnerable areas.
