Qatar’s Emir Arrives in Baghdad for Arab League and Economic Summits

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, arrived in Baghdad to lead Qatar’s delegation at the 34th Arab League Summit and the 5th Arab Economic and Social Development Summit. His visit follows an official invitation from Iraq and marks a significant moment in regional diplomacy. Accompanying the Emir is Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, underscoring the importance of this high-level engagement.

The summits in Baghdad are set to tackle pressing regional issues, including the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza and shifting geopolitical dynamics across the Arab world. With Qatar playing a central role in regional mediation efforts, its active participation reflects Doha’s continued commitment to stability and multilateral cooperation.

Qatar’s presence also signifies a strategic endorsement of Iraq’s efforts to reassert its role in Arab affairs. As Baghdad hosts these major summits, the event marks a key step in Iraq’s return as a focal point for dialogue and regional coordination. The visit by Qatar’s leadership highlights growing political and economic alignment among Arab nations during a time of shared challenges.
