Unified Iraqi Turkmen Front Prepares for 2025 Parliamentary Elections

Baghdad – The leadership of the Unified Iraqi Turkmen Front met to discuss strategies for Iraq’s upcoming parliamentary elections, set for November 11, 2025. The meeting, led by Front President Mohammad Samaan Agha, brought together key leaders of the Turkmen parties under the Front’s umbrella. Their primary focus was on strengthening the Turkmen community’s role in the political process.

The discussions centered on how to ensure fair and effective representation for the Turkmen community in the upcoming elections. Participants highlighted the importance of unity and a coordinated approach among Turkmen political forces. “We must present a unified front to guarantee our community’s voice is heard in the national dialogue,” said Agha.

The group also agreed to keep the name “Unified Iraqi Turkmen Front” as the central platform representing Turkmen interests in Iraq’s national politics. This decision reaffirmed the group’s commitment to presenting a strong, collective voice for the community.

President Mohammad Samaan Agha’s leadership was also solidified during the meeting. He was reaffirmed as the head of the Turkmen list, ensuring continuity and stability in the leadership of the Front. This came after his election as president on April 13, 2025, following the resignation of Hassan Turan.

Turan, who had taken over the leadership in March 2021, stepped down to focus on political negotiations for the Turkmen community. His decision allowed Agha to assume the role, ensuring that the leadership remained committed to advancing Turkmen interests.

The leadership of the Unified Iraqi Turkmen Front remains focused on ensuring that the Turkmen community plays an integral part in shaping Iraq’s political future. With preparations for the 2025 elections already underway, the group aims to secure stronger political representation and influence.

As the election date approaches, the leadership of the Unified Iraqi Turkmen Front is determined to present a united and coordinated front, enhancing its role in Iraq’s political landscape.
