Arab Parliament Speaker Visits Baghdad to Boost Regional Cooperation

Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yamahi, arrived in Baghdad on Friday for an official visit focused on enhancing coordination between Arab legislative bodies and addressing key regional and international issues.

Upon his arrival at Baghdad International Airport, Al-Yamahi and his accompanying delegation were received by Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, alongside several members of Parliament and senior officials from the Council’s General Secretariat.

The visit underscores efforts to strengthen parliamentary ties and foster greater collaboration among Arab nations. Al-Mashhadani extended a warm welcome to his guest, commending the Arab Parliament’s role in uniting national parliaments and representing the collective voice of the Arab people.

Al-Yamahi expressed his appreciation for the reception, highlighting the significance of his visit in promoting dialogue and deepening inter-Arab cooperation, especially at a time when the region faces shared political and economic challenges.

During their stay, the visiting delegation is expected to engage in a series of high-level meetings with Iraqi leaders and participate in joint sessions with parliamentary committees. These discussions aim to exchange legislative expertise, align positions on pressing regional issues, and reinforce democratic and institutional development across Arab states.

The visit is part of broader efforts by the Arab Parliament to build stronger bilateral relations, support Iraq’s democratic journey, and contribute to long-term stability and development across the Arab world. Both sides emphasized the importance of sustained consultation and intensified parliamentary diplomacy to tackle security threats, economic hardships, and to meet the aspirations of Arab citizens for peace, progress, and unity.
