Speaker of Iraqi Parliament Discusses Bilateral Relations and Upcoming Elections with U.S. Diplomat

Baghdad, Iraq- The Speaker of Iraq’s Parliament, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, held a meeting on Thursday with U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, Daniel Rubinstein, to discuss the strengthening of bilateral relations and the forthcoming parliamentary elections, as stated by the Speaker’s office.

The two officials addressed the security landscape in Iraq, emphasizing the need for continued stability ahead of the elections, with political factions preparing for the upcoming electoral process.

A statement from the Speaker’s office further outlined the discussions:

Dr. Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani welcomed Mr. Daniel Rubinstein on Thursday. The Chargé d’Affaires extended his warm Eid al-Fitr greetings to the Speaker and to the people of Iraq, wishing them peace and prosperity during the holiday.

The talks focused on enhancing political and economic cooperation between Iraq and the U.S., including fostering investments that would benefit both nations.

Additionally, the meeting highlighted the importance of Iraq’s security situation and its direct connection to ensuring a stable environment for the upcoming elections, which are being prepared by various political groups.
