Iraq and Turkey Reinforce Strategic Ties with Focus on Security Cooperation.

Baghdad, Iraq – In a high-level meeting held on Thursday, Iraq’s National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji met with Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Nuh Yilmaz to reaffirm the importance of sustained cooperation between the two countries, particularly in counterterrorism efforts and border security.

During the talks, both sides reviewed the status of previously signed memoranda of understanding and discussed the steps needed for their full implementation. The discussions also covered broader topics of mutual interest, reflecting a shared commitment to deepening diplomatic and security ties.

The meeting underscored a joint determination to elevate the partnership to a more strategic level. Both officials highlighted the necessity of maintaining strong coordination in the fight against terrorism and in managing shared border challenges, signaling a continued alignment on regional security priorities.
