Prime Minister Al-Sudani Honors Anfal Victims and Reaffirms National Unity

Baghdad, Iraq – Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani reflected on the anniversary of the Anfal Campaigns, describing the atrocities as a stark revelation of the former regime’s brutality and deep-rooted racism against the Iraqi people.

In a message shared on the X platform, the Prime Minister expressed solemn remembrance of the massacres committed 37 years ago, particularly against the Kurdish community. He emphasized that these crimes unveiled the true nature of the dictatorship that once ruled Iraq, marked by its oppressive and discriminatory policies.

Al-Sudani underscored that, despite the horrors of the past, the values of unity, brotherhood, and peaceful coexistence now prevail. He affirmed that Iraqis have overcome the regime’s attempts to divide them and are moving forward together in rebuilding the nation—one rooted in dignity, stability, and shared purpose.

He concluded his message by paying tribute to the victims of the Anfal Campaigns and all those who sacrificed their lives for Iraq, asking for mercy and peace upon their souls.
