Iraq and Egypt to Sign 11 MoUs Covering Security, Trade, and Industry

A senior government source revealed that Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani and his Egyptian counterpart, Mostafa Madbouly, will sign 11 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) during Madbouly’s official visit to Baghdad on Wednesday.

According to Shafaq News, the agreements span multiple sectors, including academic exchange, industry, agriculture, transportation, trade promotion, quality standards, security, military cooperation, and counterterrorism. The MoUs were carefully reviewed by a joint committee of experts from both nations before finalization.

The committee included Deputy Trade Minister Star Al-Jabri, representatives from various Iraqi ministries, economic experts, private sector members, and high-level Egyptian specialists who contributed to drafting the agreements.

Beyond economic and security cooperation, Madbouly and Al-Sudani are expected to discuss regional stability, focusing on developments in Syria, Gaza, and Lebanon.

This visit builds on ongoing efforts to strengthen economic ties. In October, Iraqi Minister of Trade Atheer Al-Ghurairy emphasized Baghdad’s commitment to enhancing trade with Egypt. During a meeting with Egyptian Ambassador Ahmed Samir, Al-Ghurairy stressed the importance of involving private sector companies in fostering stronger commercial relations between the two countries.
