PM Al-Sudani Emphasizes Government’s Commitment to Protecting Rights and Ensuring Representation

Baghdad, Iraq – Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani reaffirmed the Iraqi government’s dedication to fostering communication with all communities, safeguarding their rights, and ensuring fair representation. This message came during a meeting with the Coptic Orthodox Archbishop of Iraq, Kuwait, Jordan, Palestine, and Lebanon, Anba Antonios, and his accompanying delegation.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s media office, Al-Sudani emphasized the government’s pride in Iraq’s Christian community. He noted efforts to encourage their return to the country and enable them to contribute to Iraq’s national development alongside other communities. “The government is committed to communicating with all communities, protecting their rights, and ensuring their representation while respecting their freedoms,” the Prime Minister stated.

Al-Sudani also highlighted Iraq’s progress in consolidating stability. He mentioned the improvement of services and the enhancement of living standards for citizens, particularly through rehabilitation efforts in infrastructure across various regions. “Iraq has made significant strides by launching vital service projects, particularly in the Sinjar and Nineveh Plains areas. These initiatives will serve not only the Christian community but all communities in these regions,” he added.

The Christian delegation expressed their appreciation for the government’s ongoing efforts and commitment to engaging with all components of Iraqi society, particularly Christians. They praised the government’s focus on stability and its development projects that benefit all Iraqis, irrespective of their backgrounds.

The meeting reflected the government’s continued push for inclusivity and national unity, underscoring the importance of cooperation among all communities for Iraq’s future prosperity and peace.
