Suhaila Al-Tamimi Blends Basra’s Essence with Modern Design

Baghdad, Iraq – Iraqi-born designer Suhaila Al-Tamimi recently returned to her hometown of Basra to unveil a collection that merges the region’s rich heritage with a modern twist. The designs, influenced by Basra’s vibrant colors and traditional patterns, showcase Al-Tamimi’s ability to blend local authenticity with global influences gained during her time abroad.

“We are thrilled to have Suhaila Al-Tamimi here,” said heritage enthusiast Tamara Al-Attiyah. In an interview with 964media, she praised the uniqueness of the collection. “The beauty of this show lies in how it blends the authenticity of Basra with the global influences she has absorbed while living abroad,” Al-Attiyah added.

She further explained, “Bringing these two elements together in a single design is truly beautiful. The local essence adds authenticity, while the modern touch introduces a fresh perspective, creating an exceptional blend.”

The event also caught the attention of social media influencers, who played a crucial role in promoting Basra’s local talent. Suha Al-Khatib, a prominent influencer, highlighted the importance of showcasing the city’s creativity. “Being here allows us to share these experiences from Basra to other governorates through our social media platforms,” she said.

Attendees were impressed by the collection’s unique fusion of local and Western styles. “The pieces displayed were outstanding and perfect for women who want to stand out,” said Fatima Mohammed, calling the show “exceptional.”

Al-Tamimi’s return to Basra and her ability to merge traditional and contemporary design approaches received widespread acclaim. Her collection successfully introduced a fresh, modern perspective to the local fashion scene, celebrating both heritage and innovation.
