Baghdad, Iraq- Iraq’s olive oil production has reached a record high in 2025, marking a major breakthrough for the country’s agricultural sector. The Ministry of Agriculture announced this achievement on Sunday, highlighting significant improvements in oil extraction rates.
According to the ministry, oil extraction rates have risen to 18% across various olive varieties, including Picual, Gerafa, and Saint Catherine. This increase represents a historic milestone for Iraq’s olive oil industry.
Officials credited this success to three years of dedicated efforts. Farmers and producers have adopted improved harvesting methods and specialized presses to enhance oil quality. These advancements have played a crucial role in boosting production levels.
Previously, oil extraction rates in Iraq remained below 10%, limiting the industry’s potential. However, recent developments have led to significant progress. The ministry emphasized that this growth reflects the country’s commitment to strengthening its olive oil sector.
With record-high olive oil production, Iraq is positioning itself as a stronger player in the global market. The government continues to support farmers and invest in advanced techniques to sustain this progress.
